Soldering on

Saturday 28 November 2015

Last lesson I got out the oscilloscope and today the students got to do some soldering. I got breadboards too but soldering was most popular. Thanks go to Danny Doucette (of OCC fame) for the printed circuit boards. I also have to comment that using led's instead of ordinary diodes is much more fun. Brings a bit of Christmas atmosphere to the lab.

How many IB students does it take to solder an led onto a printed circuit board? Answer 10

1. to enquire about where the soldering iron is
2. to have the knowledge of how to do it
3. to think about what to do
4. to communicate to the others about how to procede
5. to respect the dignity of the group
6. to understand and appreciate everyones cultures
7. to care for the risk taker who got burnt
8. to risk everything and actually do it
9. to balance the programme by going for a run
10. to give thoughtful consideration of the experience
