The IB DP and IB CP are rigorous pre-university courses of study, designed for students in the 16 to 19 age range. They are broad-based two-year courses that aim to encourage students to be knowledgeable and inquiring, but also caring and compassionate. There is a strong emphasis on encouraging students to develop intercultural understanding, open-mindedness, and the attitudes necessary for them to respect and evaluate a range of points of view. As with all aspects of IB assessment, the Internal Assessment (IA) is rigorous, criterion based, and differentiating of student ability.
Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme assessment include both final examinations and internal assessment undertaken by the teacher to IB criteria and then externally moderated by the IB.

All IB examiners are ‘quality checked’ through a stringent process. This includes the moderation of Internal Assessment work.
The IB also undertakes random inspections of schools during the period of public (external) examinations.
