The rate for the second step is proportional to [H2(g)] and [N2O2(g)], i.e.rate ∝ [H2(g)] x [N2O2(g)] or rate = k[H2(g)][N2O2(g)] where k is the rate constant.However N2O2(g) is an intermediate and its formation depends on the first step, i.e. [NO(g)]2.
