Two "Creative" Course Outlines

Thursday 14 March 2019

I've updated the site and added two new Higher Level course outlines for first teaching in August of 2019 with first exams in May of 2021 (see course outline #3 and #4).  You can find them here and you can only access them if you are a subscriber.  Course outline #3 mixes and matches all the possibilites the IB presents to us and it makes for one really neat course design.  There's choice, but there's also whole class study of a literary work.  There's freedom, but there's also clear parameters on what's expected.  That is all thrown out the window in course outline #4.  Choice is endless and while there are valid critiques of this approach, it does show us what is possible with how we design the new course.

You now have four different course outlines to look at and consider.  Talk with your colleagues, departments, IB Coordinator and more about all these possibilities.  And don't be afraid to take a little bit of one course outline, a little bit of another, and still some more of a third to put together your own syllabus that works for you and your students in your context.

Best,

Tim
