May & November 2022 announcement: no paper 2

Saturday 27 February 2021

No Paper 2 for May and November 2022 examination sessions

The IB recently announced changes to the components and examinations for May and November 2022 sessions.

The announcement included the following statement:

"Due to the continued loss of instructional time which will also have impacted these students, we have decided to extend the adaptations which were put in place for 2021 for sessions in 2022 (May and November)."

For Literature students and teachers this means Paper 2 is cancelled, as for 2021, in the May and November sessions.

Teachers will still need to cover the curriculum and teach the same number of texts, but there will be no Paper 2 exam. This will be disappointing for many of us who value this assessment; however, the change is designed to help students and teachers for whom he disruption from the pandemic has been significant, and continues to be so in many places.

As always, please ask for support if you have any questions.

We hope you and your students are all safe and well, and that you are still finding some joy in the study of literature during these challenging times.

Does this mean that in May 2022 my current juniors will not do paper 2? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I just want to be sure.
