Imagery

IB English A Literature: Imagery

While the use of imagery is not a convention that is unique to poetry, students looking at poetry for part 3 need to have an awareness of its central importance in the genre, as captured in the following quotations:"Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen." "The image is more than an idea. It is a vortex or cluster of fused ideas and is endowed with energy."
