IB English B: Observing behaviour

Habits underlie the rather more respectable terms "customs" and "traditions". Customs are habits that have been recognised; and traditions are habits that have been recognised and sanctified by time. But, frankly, they all started as simple habits, or repeated patterns of behaviour. We repeat behaviour, I suppose, because it"s comfortable in the case of personal habits, and because it"s useful in the case of social habits.
