.There is value in seeing how other people mark examples of students" work, so as to calibrate your own marking and check that your standards are more or less "objective" (whatever that means). It is particularly useful if the samples arrive "clean", with no marks or annotations - you can then mark the sample without influences, thus achieving an accurate trace of your own marking standards ... which can then be compared...
