Ecological Regulation

Population regulation is a key to understanding how ecology works. In this brilliant short film from HHMI Biointeractive, students will explore concepts of population regulation.

Task Instructions

Watch the video (it is 40 minutes long) and take notes while you watch. Try to develop a graphical language for your note taking. Use symbols and arrows to represent change for example.

Also make a note of any methodologies that the scientists used during their research. If you have a summary document of techniques and methods for your Investigations, add these to them.

Once you have completed your note taking, summarise the ideas in a mind map on one page of A4 paper or your preferred online mapping tool. Use as much graphic language as you can, for example diagrams, symbols, arrows and label these to show the connections.
