The "Right" Statistical Test

It can be tricky to know which is the "right" statistical test to use beyond your basic descriptive statistics. For more on understanding data see  Understanding Data or  Writing about Data to know how to use the correct language. On this page, the slides will take you through a decision tree to help you make the "right" choice about how to test your data. This will allow you to describe the "degree of correlation", whether it is significant or not, or whether there is a significant difference between two or more sets of data. For examples of how to apply these tests see  Statistics for ESS.
