Welcome to the Inthinking Geography Site
Hello and welcome to the InThinking site for IBDP Geography. I hope that you enjoy using the site and can see lots ways it can help your students succeed. As a teacher of IB Geography at the British School of Brussels, my students use the site on a daily basis.Students have direct access to most pages via Student Access, which supports both in-school lessons as well as independent study. There are resources and pages that are specific to the teacher, loads of assessment, revision material and graded model answers as well as a student textbook. In addition there are quizzes, a qbank to make your own quizzes, model essay and assessment guidance and model exam papers. Please feel free to contact me through the site at any time with suggestions, or missing links and finally best of luck in teaching the course!
When in presentation mode the same graph would look like this:
I use it mainly when I want them to read text or small graphs from the site. Often my students have the site open in class with their one-to-one devices.
If you have a look around you'll find that there are loads of resources and activities on each page, often too many for the time allocated. This is purposeful, so that you have the flexibility to plan your lessons as you want; integrating the site into your lessons as you choose. You can use the extra activities as further reading and extension. Use the assignments tool to direct students directly to the activities you want them to do.
In addition to the lesson resources, there is a lot of assessment material, with model responses and model essays, including different essay frames and planning sheets There is also a number of sample exam papers with IB based mark schemes.
To support the IA you find really detailed student and teacher guidance, complete with exemplars and model presentation techniques, as well as everything you need for integrating the core of TOK and the Extended Essay into your lessons.
The following video is a short screencast tour of the site to show the resources, how they are organized and to help you navigate it. The site has been written with the geography teacher and student in mind. As a full time teacher I have made the site to use as a lesson resource.
I hope that you enjoy the site and if you have any questions on teaching IB Geography, any helpful suggestions or encounter any problems such as dead links then please don't hesitate to get in touch by email and I will get back to you.
