Teacher pages & student pages

Some pages on the site are for the exclusive use of teachers. These pages typically contain advise to teachers on such things as course structure, teaching strategies, and exam preparation. They are not suitable for students and cannot be accessed by them. Such pages are clearly marked as Teacher only in the left hand column.

Other pages are suitable for students and typically contain a range of readings, activities, quizzes, and written tasks. Such pages are indicated by the orange Student access tools heading in the left hand column.

Pages available for students are divided into two categories:

  1. Default-ON:  these pages are automatically available to students when they create a student account (green), but you can switch them off at any time.
  2. Default-OFF: these pages can only be accessed by students when switched on by their teacher.

Default-OFF student access pages typically contain quizzes and tasks which you might not want students to see until you set them.

To switch pages on or off  for a group you need to go to the Page manager for the relevant group.

The sitemap can be accessed from any page by clicking on your name and then clicking "Sitemap" from the drop-down menu:

The sitemap distinguishes between the three different access modes mentioned above by colour:

  1. Teacher only: not available to students (grey).
  2. Student access default-ON:  automatically available to students (green).
  3. Student access default-OFF: available when you explicitly select them (orange).

Note:
1. The sitemap indicates pages which contain quizzes or written tasks.
2. You can click on any page on the site map to go directly to that page.
3. You can filter by topic in order to zoom in on a particular section.

Student pages at ThinkIB.net

Since students do not have access to all pages on the teacher site, they log in to a separate student interface called Student Pages at ThinkIB.Net. This can be found at:

www.student.thinkib.net

When a student logs in, they are taken to their Student pages dashboard. The left hand column shows their pending tasks and the right hand column shows the subjects to which they have access.
