Meet our amazing team of dedicated MYP site authors:

Arts: Dianne Blackburn

Dianne is an Independent Educational Consultant with many years of experience in MYP Arts, pedagogical leadership, management and training. Outside her current role, she has worked for many years as an Arts Teacher, MYP Coordinator and Principal Examiner. Currently living in Yorkshire, she continues to develop her own arts practice with commercial work such as book illustrations, whilst she continues to share her passion for MYP Arts as a workshop leader supporting Art Teachers as they develop their skills and classroom practice.

Coordination: Heather Lapper

An independent consultant based in Vancouver, Canada, Heather has wide experience in international education. A trained Montessori elementary teacher, she was an MYP coordinator and teacher for 10 years in a continuum school in Victoria, Canada. She subsequently worked for the IB in both Geneva and The Hague offices as MYP Regional School Services Manager and then as Development Manager for all four programmes. The proud mother of 3 IB Diploma graduates, Heather's current roles include MYP lead educator, field representative, workshop leader, resource developer, and school visit team leader.

Coordination: Shane Tastad

Shane is currently working as a School Coach and School Counselor in Sweden, and has worked in international schools in Norway and Sweden since 1993. He has taught students in both the PYP and MYP and has been a Coordinator for both programmes.  He has also been the Principal of a three programme school. Shane is actively involved in the IB with roles such as IBEN Lead Educator, workshop leader, team leader, consultant, Field Representative, workshop developer. Instructional coaching and life coaching are passions that he has pursued and developed over the last four years.

Design: Jason Reagin

Jason Reagin has been teaching in IB schools for over 17 years with the majority of that experience in the area of MYP Design.  Hailing from the USA, Jason has taught in Bermuda, China and currently in South Korea.  He enjoys spending time with his family, cooking and creating content for his podcast!

Language & Literature: Kym Brotherton

Kym Brotherton has been teaching for 16 years with 11 years experience as an MYP and DP Language and Literature teacher. She is a Workshop Leader and Site Visitor in MYP and Examiner for Diploma. Kym’s passion is for curriculum and assessment design and she was previously a Senior Moderator in the MYP. Kym also has extensive experience in TOK and Extended Essay.

Language & Literature: Abenaa Uttenthal

Abenaa Uttenthal (BA, MA) has been teaching for 20 years with 11 years of experience in teaching MYP Language and Literature. She has also taught  Individuals and Societies and Language Acquisition. She is a trained Special Educator and EAL teacher. She holds an IB certificate in Teaching and Learning. Abenaa currently works at the International School of Hellerup, an IB Continuum School in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she is the MYP Coordinator. Before her current role, she taught in Malmö, Sweden where she was a Dean of Students and Projects Coordinator.

Mathematics: Paul Venter

Paul is currently working as a school consultant and IB Coordinator in Norway. Paul has a passion for curriculum development and wears many different hats as a continuum workshop leader, Math AA and AI workshop leader, Reader(Authorization and Evaluation), School Visiting Team Member and DP Math Internal assesment moderator. Paul was part of the MYP math skills development team that took part in the subject review. Paul is a technology, "hands-on" and "applied mathematics" enthusiast that believes everyone can do mathematics.
