Letter to the moderator

Sunday 23 March 2014

I've just finished putting together my sample for the moderator, which sounds dubious for those not familiar with the IB but it isn't. I mark electronically so the only time I see students work on paper is when I print the sample. I've been experimenting with different ways of marking, I sometimes use comments and sometimes insert speech bubbles. The speech bubbles look much better when printed as the comments make the rest of the page so small.

Before I package everything up I always write a covering note to the moderator explaining how I manage students working in pairs (only one of the pair writes up the practical) plus a bit of extra information about design prompts and the group 4 project. The more information the moderator has the easier their job is.

The new investigations will be moderated electronically so hopefully no more printing for me.
