1. The diagram below show the paths of two isotopes of Oxygen (16O and 18O) in a mass spectrometer.Show that if the radius of the 16O ions is 0.16m then the seperation of the traces on the photoplate is 0.04m.2. A 1mg sample of Carbon from an ancient piece of parchment is analysed with a mass spectrometer and found to contain 40,000 atoms of 14C. Use this data to show that the age of the parchment is about 1,900 years.
