Slow Physics
I've made hundreds of videos explaining physics concepts, they are all short, about 1 minute long, fast and direct. I speed up my writing x2 and my drawing x 4. I have to speak quickly to get through the text. They all include animations that I often have to make especially for the video. One 1 minute video can take up to 4 hours to make. I think they are effective as a quick revision aid but are too fast to be used as an introduction to the concept.
In real life I speak and move quite slowly, when I explain a concept to a student they sit next to me and I take my time so I thought I'd make some videos that are more like the real me. I don't always get things right and I sometimes talk about other things but I get there in the end. The video are around 30 min long, they are totally unscripted, I simply put on my webcam and talk, this makes them very easy to make so by the end of the year I should have covered the whole syllabus.
I am primarily making the videos for my own students, they know me so understand when I am trying to be funny. If you don't know me it might take some time to tune in but by the end you'll get it. I should mention that I have Parkinson's disease. This gives me a rather blank expression, slightly slurred speech and a hunched appearance, nothing I can do about that so you will just have to bear with me.
Hopefully the result is more relaxing than stressful so relax into a bit of physics, slow physics. Here is a compilation of the videos I have made so far.
