Create your own Jeopardy

Saturday 14 August 2010

For those of you who are familiar with the game "Jeopardy," there is a great online site that allows you and your students to create jeopardy games to use as review.  The site is called the Classroom Jeopardy Flash Game Tool.

I recommend that you download the flash player for use off-line.  This will allow you to use it in-class without having to be dependent on the internet.

Then all you have to do is click on "Make a New Game."  You then fill in the form with appropriate questions for your unit - and then you can play with the class. You may want to have students make jeopardy games as part of their unit review.  If students work in groups, then the class could play the three or four games created.  If students also download the player at home, the exported files could be used as review sheets for them.

A very handy utility for teachers - with, admittedly, rather annoying sound effects that the students will love.  Try out my own first attempt at using the program by clicking on Game Library and playing "Socio-cultural review."  If you are unable to find it, you can download the player.  Once you have downloaded the player, put it into a folder called "Jeopardy games."  Then download the following file and put it into the folder.  You should be able to open it.  You should also be able to edit it to tailor it to your own unit.
