The following lesson plan looks at cognitive explanations of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Cognitive arguments for PTSD have to do with how information about the trauma is processed. Two theories that look at the role of cognitive factors focus on schema processing and one"s sense of control over traumatic events. Students should be able to discuss the strengths and limitations of at least one of the explanations.
