Hi Heather
One of my student is doing EE on photography could you please look at the research question and her description and guide us is the RQ has direct connection with her description?
Research Question: To what extent does cultural background influence the differences between Randy Scott Slavin’s panorama 360 technique and Victor Enrich’s perspective matching technique?

Abstract
The aim of this essay is to find out whether cultural differences influence the techniques employed by two contemporary photographers, Randy Scott Slavin and Victor Enrich. While the former lives and works in New York City, the latter hails from Catalan, now living in Barcelona. Both artists pursue digital art media but their styles are very different. Randy Scott’s approach of post-processing of his photography is that of ‘Panorama 360°’; Victor Enrich pursues ‘Perspective Matching’. While both styles at the outset appear different, the cultural influence guiding these are grossly similar, in as much as neither of their families restricted their independent thinking. Ultimately it is their individual creativity that has a profound effect on their work.
Thanks

Hi Varsha, I think advising on an EE requires a more involved conversation than what is possible here on the forum ;(
In the abstract make sure she describes the research method as well as the scope, and in the essay use analysis and specific examples to support her conclusions. I hope this helps a little bit!

Hi, Heather,
I understand it is not possible here in this fourm to discuss to evaluate in depth. But its a kind request please have a glance of the below rq and the discription of my student, just need tittle bit of inputs from you as same you gave in my previous query, that will work well. Thanks
Rq: In what ways does the use of Chroma Key in the 19th century differ from that in the 21st century?

This Extended Essay is a research paper on Chroma Key. The essay focuses on the evolution of Chroma Key throughout the years. It goes in depth about how each evolution differed from its predecessor. We also learn that they have one major thing in common: Layering. Throughout the essay, there are pictures that help the reader understand the techniques by Visual Effects Artists. There are pictures of travelling mattes and alpha channels. I have integrated the pictures into the essay, so the essay constantly refers to the pictures. We also understand in detail what Chroma Key is and how it works.
I have also given examples of how Chroma Key has been used in the film industry by describing movies that I have seen. A few of these movies are The Jungle Book and The Avengers. Another detail that I have mentioned was he use of Chroma Key in various modern industries, like photography and virtual reality.

Dear Varsha, same advice as earlier, use SPECIFIC examples, apply visual analysis to these...Maybe narrow down the time frame to take on a more focussed investigation.

Hi Heather .............. If a student has chosen an EE RQ that link with their Visual Arts Diploma work ........ can they produce a piece of art that is part of the exhibition but is referred to and shown in their EE?

Heather McReynolds 10 January 2017 - 17:51

hi karen, i dont see why not, its a supporting piece for the EE, and its the essay not the artwork being assessed.
