Doing my exercises

Saturday 29 August 2015

In a recent blog post I mentioned that I am trying to move away from being Lord of the Board by producing more resources that students can use independently. Well not much change during the first week but with new students there is a lot of introduction etc. so maybe I get excused. This weekend I have started to produce what I call "exercises".

Doppler exercise

Single slit diffraction exercise

Electric potential exercise

For the time being they are located under New IA starting 2014 > Other practicals. They shouldn't be there really since they aren't only practical work. I will reorganise when I have enough of them to make it worthwhile. These worksheets lead the students through a variety of activities, practical, simulated and theoretical in a way that should cover the main points of the syllabus. I will try the first one (Doppler) with my students this week. The idea is that after a brief introduction the students will cover the whole topic independently, I will not go through it on the board. My intention is to produce similar exercises for the whole course, well at least all the conceptually most difficult bits.
