Photophosphorylation

Yesterday I tried a little theatre in my HL class.

Students chose roles of the different "characters" of the chemiosmosis process.

I pushed the tables away and put the chairs in a oval shape.

Students sat on the chairs in the oval ring representing the thylakoid disc of the chloroplast.

Students placed themselves in order with a little help.

To represent the electrons, I gave the Hydrogens of water a tennis ball each and a tennis ball to the PSII and PSI students.

Students were told that when they received an electron (reduced), they should stand up and when they pass the ball onwards to a sitting student, they should sit down (oxidized). See Light Dependent Reactions for more details.
