Pollution Card Sort Intro
I use this activity to quickly get students thinking about different categories of pollution and understanding the concepts of key vocabulary for topic 1.5.

Print out these cards for the number of groups of students you have. It would be a good idea to laminate them for reuse. Make sure each pack of cards is randomised.
Instruct the students to sort them into 3 columns on their tables with the column headings, MAJOR SOURCE, POLLUTANT, EFFECT. There is an extra set of cards with bubbles for other pollution descriptors. Students can add these to a few columns and then they should be able to explain their choices.
