The Michelson Morley experiment attempted to detect the Earth"s movement through the aether by measuring the interference effect caused by the passage of two beams of light travelling in different directions through the aether.The earth moves around the centre of our galaxy at approximately 250kms-1. Taking this to be the speed of the earth relative to the aether calculate the path difference of the two light beams...
