Hi Heather, I have question. I have a student that has chosen to do an EE on Business and Art. Would this count as an interdisciplinary essay or should it be more of one subject than the other?

Heather McReynolds 29 September 2017 - 16:58

Hi Emma, much depends on meeting the criteria of course, it can be considered a visual arts EE if the essay focuses mostly on art and includes analysis of specific art works, the scope of the investigation can also address the business aspects of the art market

OK, another question. Is this student allowed to do a Visual Arts Essay if he does not do Visual Arts as an IB subject?

YES

Hi Heather,
Does the Bibliography include the illustrations, or can they be listed as a separate Bibliography of Illustrations? I noticed in Sample 1 that she doesn't appear to list the illustrations other than identifying them below the reproduction, in the essay text. This doesn't include the location of the work. All together, or separate lists: Bibliography and List of Illustrations?

Heather McReynolds 2 February 2018 - 19:35

Hi Stephanie, Id say separate list of illustrations, and in text citations for each image.

Hi Heather,
Could a student have the same topic for his EE and his VA CS?

Heather McReynolds 15 May 2018 - 13:03

No Carine, this would be considered duplication of work. The topic could be related however ( like within the same art movement or other works by the same artist with a different focus)
