What follows is, to some extent, an exercise in Lit Crit. It involves looking at a text by a reputed author, full of figures of speech, and with an imaginative, even "poetic", approach to a significant topic. However ... I would argue that it is an unhelpful delusion to conceive that there is some sort of specialised mystique about such "lit crit". In the end, it"s all about reading and reading well - and that applies...
