The following pages also explore International Mindedness in the form of mini workshops:

  • International Mindedness an introduction to international mindedness identifying key documents
  • What is International-Mindedness? an exploration of the concept of international mindedness
  • Intercultural Understanding is the ability to meaningfully engage with people outside of one’s culture. It requires that we engage in learning about our own culture ( Understanding our culture) and the culture of others in order that we do not use our own world view and lens with which to perceive them, their thinking, and their actions. Cultural self-awareness must precede intercultural learning, because if we do not understand our own culture we will have difficulty recognizing and integrating cultural differences.
  • Multiple Perspectives & People with their differences can also be right - these two mini-workshops explore the importance of seeing things from multiple perspectives and especially the line from the IB Mission statement which states that People with their differences can also be right
  • Cultural Intelligence - Cultural Intelligence is central to the IB. Cultural Intelligence (CQ) measures a person's capability to function effectively in a variety of cultural, ethnic and national settings. It is a skill that is becoming crucial in an increasingly globalized and multicultural world.
  • Global Engagement - Being internationally 'mindful' is also about making a commitment to do something - to inquire, to learn and to serve. Internationally-minded learners actively demonstrate responsibility for and commitment to making a difference in the world.
  • Multilingualism - what is it and why is it an important aspect of being internationally minded?
  • International-mindedness and the world of work - why international mindedness is regarded as an important attribute by the world of work.
  • Case Studies - International-Mindedness & IM in my school - embedding international mindedness in the life of the school.
